Job Title: 
Director of Development

Responsible for the creation and implementation of a comprehensive development program to secure the financial resources required to support the mission and ministries of the Sisters of St. Joseph. Supports the charism, mission and ministries of the Sisters of St. Joseph consistent with their Mission Statement, Directional Statement and Chapter Documents in carrying out work activities and responsibilities.

• Serve as development consultant to the Leadership Team; cultivate a culture of philanthropy within and among the members of the Congregation.

• Develop strategies and implement programs necessary to obtain financial and public support for the ministries and Congregation.

• Partner with the Leadership Team and the Donor Relations Coordinator to identify major donors and cultivate the relationships and demonstrate progress on a regular basis.

• Oversee the management of development events

• Conduct grant research and develop successful strategies to secure foundation grants; write and submit grants

• Cultivate an annual fund/direct mail program through appeals and communications.

• Oversee data entry, gift processing, acknowledgement and recognition of gifts.

• Collaborate with other departments/ministries to provide development support, as necessary, to achieve optimal results


Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Non-Profit Management, philanthropic studies or related field with five years of successful non-profit fundraising experience demonstrating progressively increasing responsibilities. Working knowledge of multiple fundraising disciplines, including annual giving, major gifts, events, and planned giving.

Preferred: Masters’ Degree and 7+ years’ experience in fundraising and CFRE certification.
