Central Catholic High School, a college preparatory school for boys, is guided by the educational principles of St. John Baptist de La Salle.

Reporting to the Principal and part of the leadership team, the Executive Director of Advancement serves as the chief fundraising and alumni relations officer of Central Catholic High School, one of Pittsburgh’s most cherished institutions. In pursuit of institutional goals, the Executive Director oversees programs that sustain and build relationships with alumni, parents, faculty, and friends in order to ensure a cohesive and well-informed constituency that proudly delivers vital philanthropic support. The size of the advancement team requires the Executive Director both to manage and, at times, assist in some of the routine work that takes place in advancement.

Responsibilities: 

Lead, and if necessary, re-organize the Advancement Department and supervise, mentor, and assure the growth of a team of professionals, which currently includes the Director of Alumni and Donor Relations, Director of Annual Giving, Advancement Services Manager, and Events Coordinator

Create an annual development plan with specific program goals that are shared by the Principal, the Board of Directors, the staff, and other partners; manage to those goals

Create and manage an annual calendar of events with responsibilities, timelines, and follow up; articulate how each event supports the development plan

Collaborate with the Principal, Advancement committee, Advancement staff, and other partners to design reports and otherwise create an accountable, data-attentive, and analytical culture in Advancement

Serve as primary liaison between Central Catholic High School and its diverse constituency including alumni, parents, friends, booster programs as well as corporate and foundation partners

Support the strategic planning efforts of the Principal, the Board of Directors, and the faculty – a pre-requisite for successful alumni relations and development

Provide leadership for the strategic growth of alumni programs, including reunions, local events and regional events.

Develop a protocol for prospect identification, cultivation initiatives, solicitation, and stewardship

Maintain a portfolio of major gift prospects, and work closely with the Principal, Board members, and other key partners in managing those relationships toward significant and sustainable fundraising results.

Develop and manage a cadre of volunteers who can help bring Advancement programs to life; existing volunteer leadership is provided by the Auction Committee and the Advancement Committee

Produce and oversee the Advancement Department budget

Willing to work weekends, evenings, and travel 

Any other tasks assigned by the Principal

Qualifications: 

Ten years of progressive experience (with at least five years in a leadership/management role) and demonstrated success in comprehensive campaigns, major gifts, planned gifts, donor development, and constituent relations

Experience soliciting gifts at $250,000 and above

Enthusiasm for the Central Catholic High School mission and respect for its proud heritage

Experience managing and motivating a team of Advancement professionals, including the willingness and ability to delegate effectively

Concrete experience initiating, sustaining, and cultivating long-term relationships with key stakeholders and engaging all members of a broad constituency in the life of an organization or institution

A flexible, empathetic, and adaptable style with excellent verbal and written communication skills

Experience constructing and implementing long-term strategic plans

A commitment to data analysis, communication with and among stakeholders, and accountability

Ability to take initiative, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work independently and as a team player
