Parish History

St. Jude the Apostle was established in 1994 as part of the diocese's reorganization and revitalization project.  The parish was formed by merging the two parishes in Wilmerding, St. Aloysius and St. Leocadia.  Initially, the parish kept both churches open, but with the understanding that within a year the parish would determine if it was feasible to keep both churches open.  The parish studied the issue and decided that they only needed one church building.  On September 8, 1995, St. Leocadia Church was closed.
