Parish History

St. Susanna was established on June 8, 1960.  The parish was founded in response to the movement of people to Penn Hills.  The first Mass of the new parish was celebrated in the basement of the Donohue Bar and Grill on June 12, 1960.  Ground for a combination church and school building was broken on November 5, 1961.  The completed building was dedicated on September 15, 1962.  Although the church was intended to be temporary expedient until a separate church could be built, the original church continues to serve the parish today.
