Meet the deacons ordained on October 1, 2022

Home parish: Saint Clare of Assisi Parish, Carbon Center/Chicora/North Oakland

Deacon Beaver holds a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York-Binghamton and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Massachusetts. He is employed as a professor of chemistry and biochemistry at Duquesne University. He and his wife, Gina, have been married 25 years; they have two sons and a daughter. In the parish, he serves as a lector, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, and member of Pastoral Council and the Knights of Columbus.

Home parish: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Observatory Hill/Perrysville/Ross/West View

Deacon Carnprobst holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration (accounting) from Robert Morris University and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. He currently works as a senior vice president/receivables product advisor for PNC Bank. He and his wife, Mary, have been married 32 years; they have two daughters and two sons. In the parish, he serves as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, lector, acolyte, substitute catechist, and member of the Finance Council.

Home parish: Divine Redeemer Parish, Aleppo/Sewickley
Deacon Corsetti earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from California State University, Fullerton. He is employed as vice president of the Awards and Recognition Division of Moderne Glass Company, Inc. He and his wife, Shea, have been married 22 years; they are the parents of two daughters. In the parish, he serves as a lector, fifth grade catechist, EDGE middle school catechist, Confirmation catechist, member of the men’s Bible study group, Pastoral Council, and Fish Fry Committee. He was the facilitator for the parish’s synod gathering.

Home parish: Blessed Trinity Parish, Brentwood/Hays/South Pittsburgh

Deacon Kail earned three degrees from Duquesne University: a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, a master’s degree in biology, and a doctorate in chemistry. He works as a laboratory manager for Battelle Memorial Institute, which provides engineering, consulting and project management services for infrastructure projects. He and his wife, Joanna, have been married 22 years; they are the parents of four children. His parish activities include serving as a sacristan, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, lector, altar server, and substitute catechist. In addition, he trains altar servers, recruits ushers and greeters, and assists with Stations of the Cross.

Home parish: St. John XXIII Parish, Finleyville/Jefferson Hills/Peters

Deacon Lewis holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Pennsylvania State University and is employed as the automated people mover chief engineer for Alstom, a company that manufactures and services high-speed trains, metros, and monorail and tram systems. He and his wife, Diane, have been married 36 years; they have three daughters. In the parish, he serves as a lector, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, RCIA instructor, and member of the Knights of Columbus and Parish Picnic Committee.

Home parish: Saint Matthew Parish, Etna/Glenshaw/Millvale/Reserve Township

Deacon McLaughlin holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Grove City College and an MBA from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. He retired in 2019 from BNY Mellon after 37 years. He and his wife, Gail, have been married 36 years; they have three sons and a daughter. In the parish, he serves as a sacristan, lector, altar server, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, and 6th grade catechist. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, men’s Bible study, Pro-Life Committee, Eucharistic adoration team, and treasurer of the St. Vincent de Paul Society chapter.

Home parish: Holy Spirit Parish, Lawrence County

Deacon Ross holds a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and a doctor of dental medicine degree, both from the University of Pittsburgh. He is self-employed as a dentist in New Castle. He is single and has never been married. In the parish, he is an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, lector, substitute sacristan and altar server, member of the Worship Committee, and master of ceremonies for the parish festival.

Home parish: Saint Luke the Evangelist, Franklin Park/Marshall Township

Deacon Schurter holds a bachelor’s degree in child development from California State University-Fullerton and currently serves as vice president of AAA—Auto Club of Southern California; as such, he oversees membership operations and human resources policies and proceedings. He and his wife, Kathleen, have been married 29 years; they have a son and a daughter. In the parish, he is involved as a sacristan, lector, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, and in marriage enrichment ministry.

Home parish: Resurrection Parish, Bethel Park/Upper St. Clair

Deacon White earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Bethany College and a master’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is employed as a program manager for Key Logic Systems, a federal government subcontractor primarily supporting the Department of Energy. He and his wife, Cathy, have been married 37 years. They have three daughters and a son; another son died in infancy. His parish ministries include serving as an acolyte, lector, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, sacristan, project leader for the Appalachian Mission Team, and fish fry coordinator.
