Associate Music Director Full Time -- Saints Martha and Mary Parish – Allison Park/Gibsonia April 14, 2023 Saints Martha and Mary Parish is seeking to hire a full-time Associate Music Director. The Associate Music Director is responsible for planning and directing a comprehensive Contemporary Music Ensemble which would include a choir/musician group, instrumentalists, and cantors performing at various liturgies and a number of specially designed musical performances during the liturgical year. This person would assist the Music Director in serving as a parish music resource person in the areas of religious education, social ministry and evangelization. Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan and direct a Contemporary Music Ensemble which would include a choir/musician groups, instrumentalists, and cantors performing at various liturgies and a number of specially designed musical performances during the liturgical year.
Prepare a yearly budget.
Play organ/piano, conduct and arrange music.
Be up-to-date on the latest documents and trends in their field of expertise.
Ability to grow the parish and helping to develop the parish in the music ministry.
Be part of team in which the staff are mutually supportive of each other by being available for special events or specific projects.
Provide an attitude of generous service and mutual support.
Willingness to be communicative by holding themselves accountable for those around herself/himself in order to offer the best possible service to the community music ministry serves.
Ability to build trust between the Pastor and Music Minister(s).
Respect the Pastor’s understanding of the Church, overall theology and sense of liturgy.
Collaborates with the Pastor and Music Director and the advisory boards, under their supervision, and with other members of the parish staff, in the overall parish endeavor.
Assist the Music Director in serving as a parish music resource person in the areas of religious education, social ministry and evangelization
Assist in the strategic planning of the parish by working closely with various parish and diocesan offices.
Assimilates Church documents when planning the music ministry.
Be available to play at two weekend masses.
Assist playing masses on Holy Days of Obligation if needed.
Assist with providing music at special times throughout the year such as Christmas, Lent, Triduum and Easter.
Assist the Music Director with parish funerals and weddings if needed.
Be available for vacation coverage.
Have the ability and willingness to work with children and direct a Children’s Choir (in the future). Attend Music Department Meetings.
Must be compliant with all diocesan Protecting God’s Children/Child Clearances.
Key Skills:
Considerable instrumental and/or vocal skills in Catholic Contemporary Music.
Strong knowledge and appreciation of Roman Catholic Liturgy.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with others.
Required Education/Training:
Bachelor’s Degree in Music or equivalent in experience.
Three to five years of experience in music ministry.
