Jarett Kuhns will be the new principal of Archangel Gabriel School in Robinson.
For more than a decade, he has served Catholic schools in West Virginia and Ohio as a principal, teacher, interim special education director and department chair, giving him wide experience to draw upon.
Bishop David Zubik formally announced the appointment in a letter August 6.
“It is our collective mission in the diocese to provide a Catholic education that is Christ-centered, academically excellent and administered so as to support the spiritual, intellectual, physical and social development of our students,” Bishop David Zubik wrote.
“I am confident that your appointment will contribute greatly to our efforts in assuring that our schools become the embodiment of the ‘Church Alive!’ in southwestern Pennsylvania.”
Mr. Kuhns earned his undergraduate degree in education at the Franciscan University of Steubenville and completed a Master of Science in educational administration at Grand Canyon University. He has been a principal at three schools: Saint Vincent DePaul Parish School in Wheeling, WV Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School in Toledo, Ohio and at Saint John Central Grade and High Schools in Bellaire, Ohio. Prior to that he taught at Bishop Donahue High School in McMechen, WV.
Archangel Gabriel School is part of the South Regional Catholic Elementary Schools Inc., one of four geographic consortiums of schools within the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Within each region, a governing board of pastors and lay leaders provides expertise and oversight to all schools, supported by a regional superintendent. Broad support from parishes and sharing of resources provides strength and stability for each school.
