With public health officials on all levels anticipating a dramatic increase in coronavirus (COVID-19) confirmed cases and fatalities in the United States over the course of the next two weeks, Bishop David Zubik is asking people to offer personal, prayerful intentions.
Bishop Zubik suggests the prayers focus on three specific areas:
That we, as the local and national community, may be spared the effects of the virus.
That those who have already been infected might experience the healing power of Jesus.
That those who have already died may enjoy the fullness of eternal life and their loved ones may know the consolation of God’s embrace.
“Might I ask all of you, faithful of the Church of Pittsburgh, to offer your own personal prayerful intentions on Good Friday towards that end,” Bishop Zubik said. “Since Good Friday is a day when so many spend extra time in prayer, I truly believe that your prayers and mine will go a long way to be a comfort in these challenging days. Thank you for giving this request your careful attention.”
