Despite ongoing challenges from COVID-19, Catholic schools are “lighting the way” in leading young people to God as Catholic Schools Week begins its 47th year of celebration.
Due to COVID, families of prospective students will not visit school buildings this year, but can engage in virtual tours. To find them, visit school websites linked at
https://www.diopitt.org/schoolfinder and call individual schools. Registration will continue through the spring.
The Pittsburgh Catholic schools join nearly 6000 other Catholic schools around the nation to celebrate both the excellence of Catholic school education and development of the whole person – mind, body and spirit. Events take place from Sunday, January 31 through Saturday, February 6,2021.
“Every day our children are encouraged and shown how to have a conversation with God,” said Michelle Peduto, director of Catholic schools for the Diocese of Pittsburgh. “That’s the light in each child’s heart. That is what our schools do.”
All Catholic schools in the Diocese of Pittsburgh are accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Nationwide, 99 percent of Catholic school students graduate from high school; 86 percent attend college; 83.9 percent graduate from college.
