Coordinator of Outreach Ministry, Part-time, Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish -- Jefferson Hills

Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish is seeking a Part-time Coordinator of Outreach Ministry, who serves in a leadership capacity, organizing the faith community to respond to parish and community needs. The person is responsible for overseeing and administering the components of a comprehensive outreach ministry.

Education & Experience:

Minimum of Associates degree in Pastoral Ministry, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
Two years’ experience working in a nonprofit social service agency or overseeing such work
Experience working with and coordinating volunteers

Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of basic social service skills including referral procedures
Must be a problem solver and develop new outreach opportunities
Knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching and Theology of the Sacraments
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Publisher and Gmail

Essential Duties:

Provide oversight and work with parish ministries responsible for works of charity and justice (i.e., Ladies of Charity and Knights of Columbus)
Collaborate with the Cloverleaf Food Bank in providing assistance to individuals and families in need
Assess and provide appropriate services, such as information and referral or tangible assistance, intended to aid disadvantaged, distressed, or vulnerable persons or groups within the community
Recruit and train volunteers
Establish regular communication of parish outreach activities and initiatives (i.e., messages in the bulletin, etc.)
Coordinate the Advent Giving Tree Project, working with Faith Formation and volunteers
Facilitate or oversee a grief support group
Oversee ministry to the homebound:
- Ensure that homebound have the opportunity to receive Holy Communion from trained volunteers
- Make referrals for homecare services, transportation, doctor’s appointments, etc.
- Coordinate volunteers to deliver Christmas and Easter Gifts

Additional Requirements:

Must be a Catholic in good standing
Obtain all Safe Environment Clearances as required by the Parish, Diocese of Pittsburgh, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Be involved in parish life
Ability to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends on occasion
Ability to travel to the churches within our parish and to other events as needed
