POSITION SUMMARY:
The school maintenance/janitorial worker is responsible for all preventive and daily maintenance, cleanliness, and repairs of the school facilities and grounds at Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Academy, Aspinwall, PA.

School Principal
CLASSIFICATION:
Salaried employee---- with benefits, as set forth in the Regional Personnel Manual, effective immediately
QUALIFICATIONS:- Education: High School/GED or Trade School
- Valid PA driver’s license ● 21 years of age or older
- Possess knowledge of procedures, practices, tools, and equipment used in maintenance
- Minimum of two years of institutional custodial/maintenance experience
- Acquire basic maintenance skills to repair and upkeep HVAC, electrical, plumbing and other infrastructure
- Possess organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as on a team
- Ability to prioritize and have time management skills
- Strong work ethic
- Demonstrate signs of respect to those in authority
- Ensure a Christian spirit and understanding of the church and how it functions
- Able to move, load, unload equipment and supplies weighing 35 pounds and heavier
- Able to work independently and without direct supervision
- Able to walk long distances around campus
- Able to bend, stoop, squat and reach; climb ladders and scaffold
- Able to make sound judgment decisions related to all types of emergencies and safety matters
- Assist in keeping the school facility, including restrooms/hallways clean throughout the day
- Vacuum carpeted areas in all areas of the school
- Maintain hard floor surfaces using a wet mop
- Empty all trash cans and remove all trash daily
- Clean all school glass doors and windows
- Secure and store all cleaning supplies and equipment after completion of cleaning
- Maintain a supply of all cleaners in appropriate closets
- Place orders for needed supplies such as building cleaning supplies, paper towels, toilet paper, mop heads, garbage bags, sanitizer, batteries etc
- Maintain all cleaning equipment in a safe condition and good working order
- Use only cleaning products approved by the Principal or his designee
- Assist with a variety of installations and repairs including, but not limited to electrical fixtures, switches and ballasts, and semi-skilled tasks in construction, repairs and maintenance of wooden structures and articles and roof, when needed
- Install or repair some equipment including metal and wood equipment, electrical appliances, valves, gas stoves, hot water heaters, sinks, commodes, hand basins, kitchen appliances, heating and cooling systems, sewer lines
- Perform some non-scaffold interior classroom painting, stairways and railings and halls and patch plastering, if needed
- Move and transport miscellaneous items from buildings
- Assist in setting up tables and chairs and other equipment, as requested
- Maintain Gymnasium – floor, bleachers, concession area
- Assist in other areas related to overall maintenance of the campus when needed
- Set up tables and chairs, podiums, projectors, microphones, etc. for meetings and special events
- Perform basic repairs in and around the school as per a maintenance request form--request must be completed in a timely manner from time of receipt, unless otherwise noted by requestor
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the boiler room, supply closet, and janitorial closets
- Maintain School Bell and Fire Alarm System as well as Fire Drills – pulling the alarm for Building #2 (coordinate with the school secretary)
- Snow removal & salting – 3rd Street & Brilliant Avenue
- Maintain school grounds – 3rd Street & Brilliant Avenue

- Protecting God’s Children Workshop
- PA Child Abuse History Clearance
- FBI Fingerprinting
- Mandated Reporter Training
Work will take place Monday through Friday, as assigned by the Principal. Employee will work a 40-hour work week and be willing to work overtime, at different shifts, or come in on holidays or days off during emergencies, or as the need arises. *Please see sample schedule below.

Daily school routines & visual checks o Morning school responsibilities
Summer Maintenance – (June, July, August) o Floor program – hallways, classrooms, cafeteria o Painting – hallways, stairwells, classrooms● Placement of directional signs ● Directing traffic on Brilliant & 3rd Street ● o Lunchtime Opening building #1 & #2 ● Cleaning tables ● Sweeping the floor ● Garbage removal ● o Afternoon *Recess monitor – Grade 5 - 8 ● Placement of directional signs - Classroom repairs o Window and door repairs

- Ordering supplies and materials for the beginning of the school year o Maintaining equipment
- Setting up & participating in meetings with companies for any major projects to be completed by the end of the summer, general planning and coordination of improvement work to the buildings – working with Mr. Grgurich and Christ the King Parish
