Through the words of his poetry, Carl shares how he has found God's grace in times of suffering.
I met mortality today It came to struggle and cause a fray Through good works, it’s kept at bay When to return, it did not say
Rising from a hospital bed Some thoughts came into my head God’s grace abounds. It’s truly said Keep living well until you’re dead
To love your family is worth the fight Give it your best. Give it your might Avoid the darkness. Look for the light Though others don't, do what’s right
Uninvited, death knocks at your door It wants in. It wants the floor Foiled, yet, it still wants more Disrupt life’s walk - its daily chore
When to accept it as God’s will When does the end bring more than chill When is life the better still When is passing the bitter pill
For now, I have death on the run I’m blessed with more time in the sun The end’s not near, but it has begun The end, delayed, but not undone
By grace above I’m given peace Time on earth has extended lease More time for works, my sins decrease More time to have God’s will increase
As is said, “Love all. Serve all.” Resist the damning from a fall Do right, work hard, answer the call At life’s end, be standing tall
