Out of an abundance of caution and in collaboration with health and safety protocols from local, state, and federal health agencies, one of the preschool classes at Archangel Gabriel Catholic School (McKees Rocks/Robinson) will participate in virtual learning for the next 14 days, ending November 28, 2020.
Administrators informed parents that an individual associated with a pre-school class tested positive for COVID-19 on November 14, 2020. The individual is following the recommendations of his/her treating physician and guidelines set forth by the CDC and Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Health Departments.
In prudence, the class is being treated as close contacts, defined as having exposure of 15 minutes or more within six feet, with the individual who tested COVID-19 positive. The Pennsylvania Department of Health advises individuals with close contact to quarantine for 14 days after exposure and watch for COVID-19 symptoms.
Consistent with CDC guidelines, all school buildings are regularly cleaned and sanitized. In addition, Archangel Gabriel School continues to follow all diocesan, local, state, and federal health and safety directives, including wearing face coverings, handwashing/sanitizing, social distancing, self-screening, and cleaning/disinfecting.
“Please keep all of us in your prayers as we navigate these difficult times. The priority is the safety and health of our students and staff,” said Cathy Militzer, principal of Archangel Gabriel School.
