Safe Environment Coordinator and Parish Office Assistant Overview The Roman Catholic Parishes of Mother of Sorrows in Murrysville, Saint Mary in Export and Saint John Baptist de La Salle in Delmont are accepting applications for a full time Safe Environment Coordinator who would also serve as Parish Office Assistant. Responsibilities include managing clearance files for employees and volunteer lay ministers and serving as office support for the parish staff. Requirements include exceptional organizational skills, competency in Microsoft Office, and project management. Safe Environment Coordinator Responsibilities:
Implement safe environment policies and requirements in the parish, in accordance with the USCCB Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, the Diocese of Greensburg Code of Pastoral Conduct, and any other applicable diocesan safe environment policies or related regulations.
Keep all parish staff and volunteer lay minister clearance files complete and upto-date.
Communicate with parish staff and volunteer lay ministers regarding required safe environment training or training updates and provide them with applicable information and directions.
Provide direct support to volunteer lay ministers who need assistance in the process of applying for the required clearances.
Assist the pastor in the annual audit of all parish clearance files.
Parish Office Assistant Responsibilities:
Fulfill general secretarial duties, including but not limited to answering phone calls and emails, filing, sorting and delivering incoming and outgoing mail, making copies, typing letters or other communications as requested by the pastor or individuals delegated by the pastor, etc.
Greet and assist visitors.
Correspond with new parishioners who have submitted their online parish registration, helping them make introductory appointments with the pastor.
Assist the pastor in scheduling appointments and meetings as requested.
Maintain sacramental record books for the parish, and assist in producing sacramental certificates (e.g. baptism certificates) and letters of suitability related to reception of sacraments (for godparents and sponsors) as requested by the pastor.

Skills and Competencies:
Ability to enter, adapt and retrieve information from computer-based and online databases
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Working knowledge of safe environment regulations, including clearance forms
(including but not limited to the PA State Police Criminal Record Check, DHS Child Abuse History Clearance, and FBI Fingerprint Clearance)
Working knowledge of the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, and Diocese of Greensburg Code of Pastoral Conduct and other policies
Professional behavior in responding to phone calls and in person interactions
Ability to work independently and multi-task and maintain confidentiality
Proficiency in software including MS Office programs and database software (e.g. Realm)
