Saint Athanasius Church Reopens After Closing as a Precaution Due to COVID-19 Concerns

Saint Athanasius Church and Rectory (West View) will reopen on Monday, December 21 with the 8:30 am Mass after being closed since December 8, 2020, due to COVID-19 concerns linked to two positive test results.

The church is part of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, which provided Masses at other locations ( https://mountcarmelpgh.org).  Parishioners were notified of the situation and have received updates throughout.

Mount Carmel Parish continues to follow diocesan directives and CDC guidelines for cleaning and sanitizing churches as well as mandatory mask-wearing and social distancing protocols. 

“This was a temporary but necessary action to ensure the safety of all. Your patient understanding and prayerful support during this temporary closure is a sign of your faithful spirit of cooperation which has been a hallmark first of our grouping and now of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish,” said Father John Rushofsky, pastor. “Moving forward, we continue to entrust our cares and concerns to our loving and merciful God and offer our prayers for those affected by COVID-19 and those who care for them.”
