Administrators at Saint Therese of Lisieux School (Munhall) were notified of one positive COVID-19 test result over the Thanksgiving break resulting from exposure unrelated to school. Two other staff members reported possible COVID-19 exposures. Due to those situations and staffing issues, the school will move to remote learning effective immediately.
Out of an abundance of caution and consistent with the recommendations of PA Department of Education, updated November 23, 2020, Saint Therese of Lisieux School will temporarily close for in-person learning to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Students may return to the classroom Monday, December 14, 2020. In the interim, remote instruction will be provided.
Parents were notified of the need for the shift, and will be updated through the school’s regular channels of communication.
Per CDC guidelines, all buildings are regularly cleaned and sanitized. In addition, Saint Therese School continues to follow all diocesan, local, state, and federal health and safety directives, including wearing face coverings, handwashing/sanitizing, social distancing, self-screening, and cleaning/disinfecting.
"The decision to pause in-person learning is not one that is made lightly, but one that is necessary at this time to keep our entire school family safe. I am most grateful to our teachers and school families for their commitment and dedication to our school through this challenging time and look forward to returning to in school instruction on December 14. May we all continue to pray for one another and all those affected by COVID-19," said Jonathan Cuniak, principal.
