Due to a third positive COVID case in the last 14 days, in an abundance of caution and in compliance with health guidelines, Serra Catholic High School (McKeesport) has scheduled online instruction days for Monday, March 29 and Tuesday, March 30. All school extracurricular activities, including athletics, are suspended for these two days as well.
A previously scheduled Easter break from Wednesday, March 31 through Monday, April 5 will be honored. In-person learning is expected to resume on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. Parents were notified of the change and will be kept informed through existing communications channels.
“As we have seen the positive cases increase around Allegheny County, we also unfortunately have begun to see an uptick in cases at Serra as well,” said Bob Childs, Associate Principal. “Serra Catholic remains determined to do whatever is necessary to slow the spread of this disease and to keep our students, teachers, staff members and families as safe as possible.”
Consistent with CDC guidelines, the school building is regularly cleaned and sanitized. In addition, the school continues to follow all diocesan, local, state, and federal health and safety directives, including wearing face coverings, handwashing/sanitizing, social distancing, self-screening, and cleaning/disinfecting protocols.
