Certifications
The Equip curriculum features a three-tiered structure. As an elementary catechist, you will achieve three certificates by the time you finish these tiers. Upon completint Tier 1, you will achieve the Induction Certificate which authorizes you to teach religion to students PK-8 in the Diocese of Pittsburgh, and the Missionary Discipleship Certificate, common to all Catholic school teachers. Note: because the elementary catechist track requires specialized training, the number of workshops you take and the number of certificates you receive is somewhat different for non religion teachers.
Sequence and Pace
The Equip curriculum is arranged to lead you sequentially through the stages of discipleship. If possible, then, please follow the order of activities as outlined on your learner pages. Also note: while you have two years to complete Tier 1, you may find it advantageous to work more quickly; a quicker pace provides a more cohesive experience and equips you for your work as a religion teacher soon. Do not advance to Tier 2 until you complet all requirements for Tier 1.
