The Chrism Mass, postponed from Holy Thursday, will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, in recognition of the Feast Day of Saint John Vianney, the patron of parish priests.
During the Chrism Mass the bishop consecrates the holy chrism and blesses the other oils. These oils are used many times throughout the year, including at baptisms, confirmations, ordinations, anointing of the sick, and dedications of churches and altars.
Usually, all priests, deacons, seminarians, and the faithful would be able to attend this Mass. With the increase of COVID-19 cases in Allegheny County, and out of an abundance of caution, attendance will be limited to a select number of priests, deacons and seminarians.
The Mass will be live streamed for all those who are unable to attend. To live stream it at 3:00 pm on August 4, visit the diocesan YouTube channel
here. It will also be broadcast on WAOB Radio channel 106.7 FM. To see other options for accessing the radio broadcast,

The oils blessed at the Cathedral will be available for pickup at Domenec Hall at Saint Paul Seminary on Wednesday, August 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
