Saint Mark the Evangelist Parish is in search of a full time Associate Director of Faith Formation to oversee current, large, religious education programs for elementary and middle school students. In time, this new hire may contribute to future planning and new or expanded programming as our parish continues to thrive. The Associate Director of Faith Formation reports to and is supervised by the Director of Faith Formation, under the authority of the pastor, working in collaboration with other members of the Faith Formation team, parish staff members, and numerous volunteers toward the primary goal of efficacious formation of the young people of our parish.
RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES
Religious Education Responsibilities and Duties (in brief):
Summer Program Coordinator: Takes the lead in preparing for and implementing our large and popular accelerated Summer Program for middle school students.
Homeschool Program Coordinator: Takes the lead in preparing for and implementing the large and popular Homeschool Program, both school year and summer sessions.
Vacation Bible School Assistant Coordinator: Assists in planning, preparing, and implementing Vacation Bible School.
Traditional (School Year K-8) Program Coordinator: Prepares for and implements this large and popular formation program.
Helps to recruit, coordinate, train, and assist the volunteers who make our programs successful.
Helps to facilitate ongoing formation for faith formation volunteers.
Updates and maintains parish religious education database records correctly and in a timely fashion.
Sacrament Responsibilities and Duties (in brief):
Sacrament of Confirmation Coordinator: Leads the planning and preparation for Confirmation.
Grade 2 Sacrament Assistant Coordinator: Assists in planning and preparation for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist.
Ensures sacramental records and data are updated and maintained correctly in a timely fashion.
APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
Must be an active and practicing member of the Roman Catholic Church who pursues ongoing personal formation and spiritual growth.
Must be willing to adapt to the culture of Saint Mark the Evangelist parish and step into the above outlined role immediately.
Must be able to articulate both the philosophy and theology underlying the parish religious education programs and Catholic theology that reflects the teachings of the Church.
Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills, including digital communication.
Must be able to work collaboratively as well as take direction.
Must have good digital database management skills.
Must be comfortable with technology and willing to learn new software if not already familiar.
Must be organized, reliable, and on-time.
Must be creative.
Must be able and willing to work evenings and weekends as the job dictates.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in religious studies, religious education, catechetics, theology, or similar discipline preferred. Title and salary are commensurate with degree earned.
Experience in catechetical ministry is ideal; such as a catechist in a religious education program or catechizing or teaching religion in an elementary or secondary school.
