Saint Aidan Parish is seeking a dedicated and talented Associate Music Minister to join our vibrant parish community. The Associate Music Minister will assist in planning, coordinating, and leading music for liturgical celebrations and other parish events. This role requires a deep understanding of Catholic liturgy, strong musical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and volunteers. Key Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and coordinating music for all liturgical celebrations, including Sunday Masses, Holy Days, weddings, funerals, and other parish events.
Lead and accompany the congregation, choir, and cantors during liturgies.
Rehearse and direct choirs, ensembles, and musicians.
Collaborate with the Director of Music Ministry to select appropriate liturgical music that reflects the liturgical seasons and themes.
Support the development and training of volunteer musicians and cantors.
Ensure the proper maintenance and care of musical instruments and equipment.
Participate in regular staff meetings and liturgy planning sessions.
Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment within the music ministry.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Music, Liturgical Music, or a related field preferred.
Proficiency in playing the organ and/or piano; ability to play other instruments is a plus.
Strong vocal skills and experience in choral directing.
Knowledge of Catholic liturgy and a commitment to the mission and values of the Catholic Church.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Administrative skills include scheduling and email correspondence.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Must pass the Diocese of Pittsburgh Safe Environment and Governmental Background Clearances.
