St. Oscar Romero Parish, Canonsburg, PA is seeking to hire a full-time Director of Youth Ministry and Confirmation Coordinator.
Embracing the parish vision, the Director of Youth Ministry will create opportunities for fellowship, discipleship, and spiritual development of middle school and high school students and their families. This position advances the programs that draw all to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and a more intimate understanding of the Catholic faith.
St. Oscar Romero Parish utilizes the Edge and Life Teen models of relational ministry with active middle and high school programs of catechesis and evangelization. The Director of Youth Ministry will oversee the recruitment and formation of Edge and Life Teen CORE teams, oversee the regular Edge and Life Teen formation programs, retreats and evangelization, as well as the integrated Confirmation program in the 9th grade year.
Duties and Responsibilities: • Participate fully in the practice of the Catholic faith and the life of the parish. • Work in collaboration with the Director of Religious Education. • Establish and execute programs to build fellowship among youth, and their families as well as make the programs a vehicle for them to encounter Jesus. This will include both social activities and service activities. • Effectively run both Edge (7th-8th Grade) and Life Teen (9th-12th Grade) programs along with the 9th Grade Confirmation Program and their separate Core Teams. • Develop effective ways to communicate with students, parents, and the parish at large. • Articulate and support the parish vision. • This position requires flexible working hours including weekends and evening hours.
Key Skills: • Demonstrate mature personal awareness for developing healthy and constructive relationships with all constituents. • Exhibit organizational and administrative skills and the ability to work well in a team and to foster teamwork. • Ability to prioritize work according to milestones and deadlines. • Excellent communication and people skills and the knowledge of how Flocknote works (or the ability to learn how to use it effectively). • Build relationships quickly, with parents, teens, and parishioners. • Self-motivated, creative and engaging to positively impact the parish. • Required Education/Training: Degree in Theology, Religious Education, Catechetics or experience in Youth Ministry. • Preferred to have at least 3 years of experience with Youth Ministry. • Preferred but not required: Technology savvy, musical abilities to deliver relevant engagement opportunities through communications using a variety of messages and vehicles and to be bilingual (English and Spanish).
