Dishwasher – Little Sisters of the Poor

The Dishwasher, reporting to the Food Service Manager or Designated Cook, is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation requirements in the Dietary Department consistent with the Home’s standards and philosophy, and in accordance with all regulations, codes, policies and procedures that govern the facility.
The Dishwasher will carry out duties in keeping with the mission of Little Sisters of the Poor, namely the caring for the aged poor with love, respect, and dignity. “Making the elderly happy, that is what counts” was a saying of the Little Sisters of the Poor foundress Saint Jeanne Jugan. Central to this philosophy is the promotion of a holistic approach for our Residents in an atmosphere of kindness and respect in creating a family spirit.
This position, located in Pittsburgh, is generally a daylight position/rotating weekends and might also require some evenings.
The Dishwasher will be:
1.      Responsible for preparation of dishes, utensils, pot and pans for washing.
2.      The operation of dish machine and dish washing, pot washing room/area.
3.    Sort, stack, and deliver clean dishes, glass, tableware, pots, pans and other cooling utensils to the proper storage areas.
4.    Maintain high standards of sanitation, safety, proper storage and handling in accordance with Health department, State, and Federal codes, and Home policy as instructed.
5.      Cleaning of hand sinks and stocking with soap and paper towels.
6.      Daily cleaning, sweeping and mopping department areas including doors and coolers.
7.     Loading, delivery and pick up of food carts.
8.   Remove trash and garbage to appropriate waste and recycling receptacles.
The Dishwasher must have:

High school education or equivalent.
Excellent Resident/Customer service skills.
A willingness to learn and follow verbal and written directions.
An attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills.
Good attendance is required.
