Carlow University has an immediate opening for a Financial Aid Coordinator in our Oakland campus. This is a full-time, exempt position in the Student HUB which includes the Office of Financial Aid, Student Accounts, and the Registrar. This is currently a hybrid position. Successful candidates must be reliable and punctual, have exceptional customer service skills, strong oral and written communication skills, the utmost attention to detail, relatable proven technological experience (preferably with a Student Information System), and the ability to multi-task in a very fast-paced, busy environment. Essential Functions: • Review the results of the FAFSA to assess individual student’s financial need and ascertain the student’s eligibility to participate in federal, state, and/or institutional aid programs • Review NSLDS and COD records to confirm Pell Grant and Federal Direct Loan remaining eligibility • Review Tax Transcripts and other documents to complete Verification • Package financial aid for undergraduate and graduate students with the utmost attention to detail • Originate Federal Direct Student Loans and PLUS Loans with Colleague and COD • Originate private loans using ELMONE • Assist with website and other platform updates with financial aid information and announcements • Act as a liaison with the Admissions Office in the recruitment of new students including representing financial aid at Admission recruiting events • Effectively counsel and guide students and families on all facets of the financial aid process via email, on the telephone and in person • Work collaboratively with other student service departments on campus • Keep abreast of current regulations and guidelines pertaining to all financial aid programs • Assist at the HUB front desk on an as needed basis • Monitor the Financial Aid in-box, replying to students in a timely manner after a careful review and assessment of the student’s inquiry • Demonstrate and reflect an understanding of and commitment to the mission and core values of the University and the Sisters of Mercy Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree preferred • Preference to individuals with Higher Education experience, particularly in a Financial Aid Office • Preference to individuals with Ellucian Colleague experience • Strong commitment to customer service • Familiarity with NSLDS and other federal and state websites • Experience with Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Word and Excel • Ability to communicate effectively in person, on the telephone, and in all written communications • The proven ability to work in compliance with institutional, federal, and state regulations • The proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality and to handle sensitive matters with discretion, diplomacy and good judgment • Ability to work independently and follow directions with little supervision Why Carlow University?
