Mail Services Assistant The Mail Services Assistant is responsible for assisting the Mail Services Supervisor in ensuring University daily mail operations provide efficient and effective mailroom services in an organized and safe environment. This includes mail operations for University faculty and staff as well as Residence Halls and the Sisters of Mercy.
Primary Responsibilities:
Sort, process, track, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and packages including interdepartmental mail, USPS, UPS, FedEx and other campus deliveries
Provide consistent and outstanding customer service
Operate mail services equipment and software in a safe and efficient manner
Monitor postage machine balance to ensure timely replenishment
Maintain systems and procedures with current technology to ensure efficient and organized processes
Identify operational challenges and inefficiencies, present and implement solutions under the direction of the Mail Services Supervisor
Ensure proper controls and security are in place to safeguard University assets and mail
Assist in development of mail services operation and administrative policies and procedures
Track and order mail services supplies
Train and oversee student employees under the direction of the Mail Services Supervisor

Requirements:
Minimum education of a high school diploma or GED
Available to work 25 hours weekly with flexibility to work up to 40 hours at times for PTO coverage
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and walk and/or stand for extended periods of time
Preference given to candidates with post office or mail services operations experience
Experience with MS Office including Excel, Outlook, Teams and Word
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing
Ability to provide leadership, deliver results and meet deadlines with high precision
Effective in a dynamic and collaborative environment in a positive and proactive manner
