Mary, Mother of God Parish Holding Prayer Service for two McKeesport Police Officers shot today

Two McKeesport police officers were shot, one fatally, in an incident in McKeesport this afternoon.

A Holy Hour and Prayer Service will be held for the two officers and for the community at 7 p.m. this evening, February 6, 2023 at Saint Patrick Church, 310 32nd Street, McKeesport, PA, 15132.

“We are saddened by these tragic events,” says Father Terry O’Connor, pastor of Mary, Mother of God Parish. “We open our doors for this service, for all seeking comfort and grace as we pray for the officers, their families and the whole community.”

“We are confronted once again by the violence that strikes at our hopes for peace,” says Bishop David Zubik. “As people of faith, we are challenged to examine how we can contribute to a culture that cherishes life and values kindness and compassion instead of anger and vengeance. We add our prayers to those being offered at the parish tonight, and in continuing prayers for peace.”

Father O’Connor is conducting the Holy Hour and prayer service, assisted by Father Adam Potter, parochial vicar.
