Bishop David A. Zubik will celebrate a Mass of Remembrance and Healing for persons and families who have suffered due to drug addiction at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Saint Paul Cathedral in Oakland. All are welcome.
The Mass will be an opportunity to pray for those who have died and for their family and friends to seek peace and healing. It is also an opportunity to pray with and for those who struggle with drug addiction.
“Each day I open the newspaper and see the names of far too many people who have died as result of drug addiction,” Bishop Zubik said. “They are mothers and fathers, daughters and sons, granddaughters and grandsons, sisters and brothers and friends. We have a responsibility – on our own and as communities of faith – to pray for all who have struggled or who are struggling with addiction and for their loved ones who suffer with them.”
The Mass of Remembrance and Healing is the first of several events that the Diocese of Pittsburgh is sponsoring in response to the impact of drug addiction on families and communities in southwestern Pennsylvania. Future activities will include educational opportunities and prayer gatherings with people of other faiths.
The Mass of Remembrance and Healing will be televised live on Christian Associates Television, Channel 95 on Comcast in the City of Pittsburgh and will be live-streamed on www.christianassociatestv.org.
