Carlow University is currently accepting applications for our Middle School English Language Arts Teacher position in our Campus Lab School. This position will be a teacher of Middle School ELA (English Language Arts). Teachers are expected to know and understand the PA State Standards for English Language Arts related to the specific content of the grade level and create innovative and engaging lesson plans incorporating technology and hands on activities, display proactive and positive classroom management, instruct students utilizing best practices, and create a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional program, while focused on inquiry-based learning.
Effective communication with parents and colleagues and the ability to work well within a team are necessary. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintain positive and proactive communication with families.
Plan, prepare and facilitate engaging and research-based instructional activities and assessments. Technology Integration is a key component.
Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in.
Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
Participate in professional development opportunities.
Maintain gradebooks and student information systems.
Read and stay abreast of current topics in education, particularly as they pertain to English Language Arts as well as technology integration and innovation.
Create lesson plans complete with competencies, goals, assessment, di erentiation, and objectives.
Utilize various curriculum resources that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
Develop positive and proactive classroom management to create a culture for learning.
Develop professional relationships with colleagues, other agencies, and programs.
Work with program coordinators to ensure initiatives are being met.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
Prepare and distribute required reports in a timely fashion meeting required timelines.

MINIMUM EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Elementary with focus on English Language Arts, Middle Level English Language Arts, and/or Secondary English Language Arts certification
Applicants are preferred to hold a Master’s degree
PA Teaching Certification Required
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
Experience incorporating current technology into lessons daily.
Prior classroom teaching experience preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND/OR LICENSURE
PA Teaching Certification Required, dependent on grade level taught. • All required clearances
