Following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Pennsylvania Department of Health protocols, along with guidance from the Allegheny County Health Department, 19 people involved with the Sacred Heart Elementary School (Pittsburgh/Shadyside) volleyball team will participate in online learning for 14 days.
This action comes after the school was notified that someone associated with the team tested positive for COVID-19. Sacred Heart administrators notified the team and school families of the need for the quarantines.
School administrators, along with representatives of the Allegheny County Health Department will continue to monitor the situation and update school families. According to guidance from the Allegheny County Health Department, no building closure is warranted.
Sacred Heart Elementary School continues to meet and exceed all COVID-19 health and safety protocols for in-person learning including temperature checks, mask-wearing, cleaning and sanitizing procedures, and adhering to social distancing requirements.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the students and volunteers. We look forward to the students being able to participate in our virtual academy and anticipate they will be able to return to school on a regular basis very soon," said Dave Barr, Sacred Heart principal.
