Serra Catholic Boys JV and Varsity Basketball Teams Move to Remote Learning

This is a Cautionary Action after a Reported Positive COVID-19 Test

The boys JV and Varsity Basketball teams at Serra Catholic High School (McKeesport) will learn virtually, and practices and games are cancelled until February 13, 2021 after the school was notified that someone associated with the team tested positive for COVID-19.
 
Consistent with CDC guidelines, all school buildings are regularly cleaned and sanitized.  In addition, the schools continue to follow all diocesan, local, state, and federal health and safety directives, including wearing face coverings, handwashing/sanitizing, social distancing, screening procedures, and cleaning/disinfecting.
 
School families were notified of the situation and will continue to be updated through the school’s regular channels of communication.
 
“We took immediate and decisive action to quarantine members of the boys basketball program after learning about the positive COVID-19 test result. Serra Catholic will continue to do everything in its power to ensure a safe learning environment for the entire school community,” said Tim Chirdon, principal.
