Out of an abundance of caution and in collaboration with health and safety protocols from local, state, and federal health agencies, the sixth grade at Holy Sepulcher Catholic Elementary School (Butler, PA) will participate in virtual learning for the next 14 days.
The school was notified that one person associated with the class tested positive for COVID-19, and there are existing quarantines due to non-school related COVID-19 exposures. The school principal reported the case to the Pennsylvania Department of Health and notified school families. No building closure is warranted.
All schools in the Diocese of Pittsburgh continue to meet or exceed all health and safety directives, including wearing face coverings, hand washing/sanitizing, social distancing, self-screening, and cleaning/disinfecting.
"Please know we are taking the above action as the health and well-being of our students, staff, and families is of utmost importance to us. I know this is a challenge for families and greatly appreciate their patience, flexibility, and support as we continue to work hard to navigate through these challenging times," said Ashley Bauer, principal.
