DePaul School for Hearing and Speech Speech and Integrated Language for Learning Program PRE-SCHOOL TEACHING POSITION
DePaul School for Hearing and Speech teaches spoken language communication skills to children who are deaf, hearing impaired or have severe language impairments, birth to 8th grade. This position is in our Speech and Integrated Language for Literacy Program (SAILL) for children 3- 5 years of age. Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree required; teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education or Special Education
A commitment to collaborating with a teaching team to help preschool children acquire spoken language in preparation for transition to mainstream education in child’s neighborhood school.
Training and experience in speech and language development
Experience in emergent literacy practices and cultivation of language skills
An openness to learn and a willingness to work under the guidance of a mentor
The ability to assume the responsibilities of a classroom teacher which includes: instructional planning, implementation of lessons, assessment progress and communication with parents.
Understanding and experience working in early childhood education — birth to 5 (preferred)
Willingness to work with parents of children birth to 5 including one on one parent/child sessions
Physical requirements of the job:Some aspects of this job are fast-paced, however, this position does not require lifting or physical exertion to complete the job.
Salary & Benefits:
This full-time 11 month position. Benefits include worker’s compensation, FICA, participation in 403(b) pension plan, life insurance, after 60 days of employment: health care coverage, dental & vision coverage.
